A Girl and her Horse


Randi Thompson first discovered horses as a young girl where she rode bareback for years though the country sides of Minnesota. The horses in her life became her best friends and greatest teachers. It was the love of horses that inspired Randi on a journey that began with self discovery and personal growth and led to a career in the horse world where she inspires horse people worldwide.

In 1979 Randi trademarked “Horse and Rider Awareness™” Eductional Programs.  In 2016 she founded the Jumping Instructors  and  Dressage Instructors Programs

Professional Background


Randi has been in the horse industry for over 40 years and has been teaching riding instructors, clinicians, trainers and riders easy, safe and fun techniques to connect them with their students or horses. Her Horse and Rider Awareness® techniques have been tested on 1000's of students and horses of all styles of riding and breeds of horse world. Randi has been featured in radio shows, horse publications, and more.  Randi is known as a  "trainer's trainer,"  teaching and inspiring riders, instructors and trainers of all breeds and styles of riding from around the world in horse and rider training techniques, business and marketing

Her method-the Horse and Rider Awareness® program—has received national recognition including being choosen as a 2015 International Equestrian Trailblazer (24 horse professionals from around the world) and headlining with presentations at the the Certified Horsemanship Certification Assn. International Conference, (for riding instructors), the International Society of Rider Biomechanics, the Mass. and Ohio Equine Affaire’s, (the largest equestrian events in the USA), Equine Extravaganza, the World Equestrian Games GEE, the U.S. Pony Club National Convention, the Florida Pet and Horse Expos, and many other regional and local equestrian events. She has also been a guest on nationally syndicated radio shows including: the "Horses in The Morning Show" "Stable Scoop" and "Horse Tip Daily" and "The Horse Show" with Rick Lamb. Randi is also an author who has been published by Horse Collaborative, Omega Fields, Foothills Riding Club (NC) North Carolina Horse News, Horse and Pony (Florida Edition), Florida Horseman Magazine: 'Flying Changes', Newsletter (Gold Coast Dressage, FL), Equinesite.com and more.

Randi Thompson is currently a Master Instructor with the 
Certified Horsemanship Association. She has also been certified as a Master Clinician Instructor with the Horsemanship Safety Assn where she was in charge of the Advanced Instructor Programs. Randi is also graduate of the Meredith Manor.  Randi has attended numerous programs and clinics with world class trainers in Dressage, Hunters/Jumpers, Judging and Riding Instruction. She has also participated in three USDF Violet Hopkins National Dressage Instructor Programs.

She is the founder of the Jumping Instructors and Dressage Instructors Programs where she has joined with recognized USEF judges to provide educational programs for riding instructors.           



There are now over 1000 Horse and Rider Awareness videos on the  Randi Thompson Live  Youtube channel that feature the training process of featured riders and their horses (Amateur riders with horses who had training issues) over several years. 

 Ms. Thompson has also attended the "L" judge training programs from the USEF (United States Equestrian Federation) in Hunters, Hunter Seat Equitation and Jumpers where she judged at the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Florida, for four years. She also attended the “L” USDF (U.S. Dressage Federation) judges program.

Camille Beatty Regional Winner


This is Camille Beatty who rides Marco Polo. In their first year of Dressage competition they competed at the USDF Region 1 Championships. They came in 2nd for the Junior Rider Equitation and 3rd Place at the Junior Rider Training Level Championship Class.
